Kanata’s Rare is exceptional (and I’m not just talking about the stunning interior).
Not only were the martinis at this beautiful, open concept & contemporary eatery generous in size and quality, they were under 8 dollars!!!! Please excuse my enthusiasm.
The perfect start to my meal was a baked bree&cranberry compote. While I was looking forward to a warm, melted wheel of Brie, I was pleasantly surprised when it came served bruschetta-like on crispy baguette. 4 slices made it a perfect shareable for me and my accompaniment. My entree was also beautifully done and again, largely portioned. I opted for the seared scallops (4 perfectly cooked and tender) on cauliflower mash (my favourite food trend right now) and drizzled with a fresh chimichurri sauce. I paired my main with Rare’s signature vegetables (10 varieties of veggies, some are grilled/sautéed and baked) which were so fresh and well seasoned, they could have their own spot on the entree menu. Other hits of the night were the maple pecan salmon and the roasted chicken penne. For dessert? A fluffy, creamy cheesecake with 4 spoons.Location: 570 Kanata Avenue Website: http://www.rarerb.ca/
